Rosi Braidotti proposes the nomadic subject as an alternative to fixed, essentialist identities. It is fluid, processual, and constantly becoming, rather than rooted in rigid categories of identity (such as gender). By emphasizing embodiment, Braidotti challenges universalist, abstract models of the self that ignore gender, race, and other lived differences. She does not simply oppose the oppressive identity structures, instead, her thought creates new possibilities of being.
