蒂姆·马罗尼是西方神秘学兄弟会（包括东方圣殿骑士团和金色黎明）的入会者，也是网络早期神秘学研究的领军人物。在“神秘学”一词被广泛使用之前，他就已经开始撰写博客，并在《灵知》杂志上发表过关于科幻小说和计算机网络的精神层面的文章。
